Beta

My beta testing portfolio is expanding; I have been invited to beta test the upcoming DDO for Europe – DDO-EU.

This marks my 4th game; CoH-EU, WOW-EU (open), AA-EU were the other three. CoH-Europe came after I had played CoH-US for a year. WOW-EU-open was more of a stress test than anything else, although it consumed the better part of two months of my life. AA-EU was an active pursuit, registered for a spot and got lucky. DDO-EU was also an active pursuit, as was RFO-EU for which I haven’t heard anything yet. AA-EU beta works only every Thursday and Saturday evenings for a few hours, so I can do them both. Should I get an invite for RFO too though (yeah, right, I’m not that lucky) it will prove to be a problem.

Anyway, I’m in the process of downloading the DDO-EU client (1752,164 MB, God bless it…) and it is going very well (381Kb/sec average speed). I would hate to think what would happen if I tried to do that back in Greece with a 40Kb/sec line (or worse, with a modem of 4Kb/sec).

So, back to the D&D game I first started my journey to the RPG genre. From a brief experience with the US stress test for DDO, it is something to take under serious consideration. It is just that… RFO… thingy… game… type… Can’t get it out of my mind. And as every MMO player knows, no one can play two MMOs at the same time…

I’ll be posting more about it soon. Take care.

You would have learned the meaning of patience, as our Chinese friends say :p

  2. Patience is what I practice every day I’m in Greece because I love my home country. Patience for the taxi driver, patience for the laws, for the politicians, for the journalists, for the educators, for the reality shows, for the ignorance, for the apathy.
The Internet is something I don’t want to be patient about.
